minivan of love

remember when this happened about a month ago? well, this morning was like that, times eleven.

i was on my way to the gym when a minivan pulled around to pass me, just as i wanted to get in that lane myself. before i even had a chance to get huffy, though, i realized that the minivan was plastered with veg*n and animal rights bumper stickers. i changed lanes and once i was behind them, i gave them a big thumbs-up and a huge goofy grin. i couldn’t help myself; it just made me SO HAPPY to see real physical evidence that other vegans exist. hee.

as it turns out, they were going to the same place i was, and so i ended up turning into the parking lot behind them. once we were in the lot, the passenger rolled down his window and waved at me. i waved back. dork-o-rama, but i don’t care. the family was going to the high school and i was going to the gym in the same parking lot, so we didn’t park near each other, but the dad jogged over to talk to me after we had both parked. turns out they had seen my GO VEGAN! licence plate frame right before they passed me. i looked like crapola, and normally i would have been a little self-conscious about talking to a stranger in the glaring sunlight in such a condition, but i was so excited that he was a real!live!vegan! that i didn’t really mind.
