veganism is my problem

my mom told me that recently. it went something like, "veganism is your decision, and frankly, your problem."

it’s always nice to feel loved.

  1. I would say, “Frank Lee is not my problem.”
I’m sad to read about your mom’s lack of validation, but there’s plenty of support outside o’the family, as you know…

  2. It’s my “problem,” too.
The animals that are tortured, and the companies that torture them, and the meat-eaters that pay companies to torture them, but don’t want to hear about it – that’s my PROBLEM.
That’s the whole world’s PROBLEM. And veganism is the SOLUTION.

  4. You’ve got to love that, right? I’m sorry to hear that. It can be frustrating.
I now work for a non-profit organization where over 1/2 the staff (11 total employees) feels this way about my Veganism. I love the organization but I really dislike their inaccurate view of Veganism. I’m hoping their views will change. 🙂

  5. my mom says the same thing to me. this time, it was for my birthday. she was arranging all the food and referred to me as “the problem.” i can relate.

  6. I know, you would think we were doing some murdering the way people act. Half the time I’m met with hostility. Can’t figure out WHY. Don’t let it get you down.

  8. I love how understanding family can be. If I have to hear “your diet is so restrictive” one more time from my mother I think I will scream. It is not a diet and to me it is not restrictive. Ahhhhhhh! On the upside, I never make my way of eating an inconvenience for her. I just simply make my own food (which always gets eaten up first) and bring it with. Family members want you to be like them and sometimes feel judged or offended when you do things that are different.
