oreo truffles

okay, do this:

buy one tub of tofutti better than cream cheese and one package of oreos (or newman o’s, or whatever you prefer; vegan chocolate sandwich cookies). crush the cookies in a food processor and blend with the cream cheese.

roll that mixture into balls, put on a cookie sheet and chill in the fridge for awhile.

melt some ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips, or tropical source chips in a double boiler (or however you like to melt chocolate). get the balls out of the fridge and get to dippin’.

put back in fridge.

come back in a little while and EAT THEM ALL, OH MY GOD.

postscript:

i haven’t tried this yet, but you could also melt those newfangled organica vegan white chocolate bars, and then drizzle that over the top. anyway, my cousin made these for me recently and i wanted to kiss her. in fact, i did kiss her. i love her so.

  1. Sounds dangerous! I’ll have to give them a try. Sounds like they didn’t last long enough to see, but do you know if they have to be kept refrigerated?

  2. Oh the possibilities! With all the Newman-O flavors out there (minty! double chocolate! ginger!) one could do a whole valentine variety box for all one’s loved ones. Oh my. Yup. I’ma gunna do it. Yessiree!

  3. deb–well, hmmm. i’m not sure if they have to be refrigerated or not, but i did refrigerate the ones my cousin gave me to take home. i prefer my chocolate cold, so i tend to do that regardless!
gladcow–oh my. you are really onto something there!
